Montville Township High School Mandarin students perform a Chopstick Dance. On January 14, 2025, Montville Township High School's Mandarin program hosted a vibrant Chinese New Year celebration filled with traditional cultural elements. Robert R. Lazar Middle School grade 6, 7 and 8 students assisted. Nearly 300 members of the community attended the free event, which was organized by the MTHS Chinese Honor Society. The celebration was a combination of performances, activities, and traditional foods that showcased Chinese traditions, art, and culture.
Art Teacher Julia Seastrand and School Counselor Adrianna Salerno (seated) organized the Robert R. Lazar Middle School’s Fidget drive. The popular toys were packaged, by Lazar 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, with handmade decorations and messages of affirmation. The “care packages” were given to children at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, in Morristown, NJ.
BIG FISH Spring Musical Auditions for the Montville Township High School spring musical. Looking for a YOUNG WILL, aged 10-12 years-old. Auditions in the MTHS Auditorium on January 28 from 4:00-5:30 pm. This audition is open to Montville Township Public Schools students ages 10-12.
Kindergarten Registration for the Montville Township Public Schools 2025-2026 academic year opens Tuesday, January 14, 2024. All children of residents of Montville, Pine Brook, or Towaco, New Jersey, who have reached the age of five on or before October 1, 2025, are eligible for Kindergarten. Parents/Guardians must complete On-Line Registration for each child attending Kindergarten. On-line Registration must be completed between Tuesday, January 14, 2025 and Monday, February 17, 2025.
The Montville Township Board of Education recently honored the five first-quarter ShopRite STARS of the 2024-2025 school year. The Montville Township High School seniors have their photos displayed on a plaque in the school and also at the Parsippany Sunrise ShopRite. Alice (Grace Hricay) and Humpty Dumpty (Danylo Kondryshyn) in the Montville Township High School Theatre Company’s fall production of "Alice in Wonderland." The show will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 14, 15, and 16 at 7:00 p.m. The production is staged in the MTHS auditorium. MTHS is located at 100 Horseneck Road in Montville, NJ. Tickets are $10 for students and senior citizens, and $12 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at http://mthsnj.booktix.net/. Presenters Meghan Murphy and Katie Armstrong, from NJ Statewide Student Support Services [NJ4S] will join the members of the MTHS Counseling Department to guide students and families through best practices in the career exploration process. Self-awareness, self- identity, and tools for exploring possible career paths will be emphasized. Montville Twp. BOE Member Karen Cortellino with the CHAMPION AWARD for Leadership - Presented  to her by the NJSBA. The New Jersey School Boards Association presented Montville Township Board of Education Member, Dr. Karen Cortellino, with the prestigious NJSBA Champion Award during Workshop 2024 in Atlantic City. NJSBA Champion Awards are presented to individuals who exemplify outstanding dedication and effort in areas such as teamwork, leadership, innovation and other qualities that help the NJSBA advance its mission to promote the achievement of all students.

Performances are Thursday and Friday, October 24 and 25 at 7PM on the Lazar Middle School stage. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students.
“Cedar Hill Elementary School has a very strong relationship with The Seeing Eye®,” said Cedar Hill principal Dr. Michael Raj. Raj and School Nurse Bonnie DiCola introduced Forrest (“Forest”), the newest puppy-in-training, to the members of the BOE. Raj and DiCola made a special presentation to the BOE regarding the district’s robust The Seeing Eye® Puppy Training Program. “Forest” is the twenty-third puppy DiCola has raised in the Cedar Hill Elementary School setting.

HONUS & ME, written by Dan Gutman, is the Robert R. Lazar Middle School's Fall Play. Performances will be held on Thursday and Friday, October 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lazar Middle School Stage  Directed by music teacher Jordan Green, HONUS & ME is the story of a young baseball fan who discovers a 1909 Honus Wager baseball card. The card allows the fan to travel back in time and meet the baseball legend.  This is an evening of family fun! Performances are Thursday and Friday, October 24 and 25. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students. All performances are FREE to STAFF. There is also a FREE SENIOR CITIZEN PERFORMANCE on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. Lazar is located at 123 Changebridge Road in Montville, NJ.
ESL Family Night is Tuesday, October 8 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All parents and guardians of all students who are enrolled in the Montville Township Public Schools district's English as a Second Language [ESL] program are invited to attend.    Please come and meet the ESL teachers and learn more about ESL services offered by MTPS and the community-at-large. Children are welcome to attend this event. Montville Township High School [MTHS] students will be at the event to help entertain the children who attend.    ESL Family Night will be held in the Hilldale Elementary School Media Center, 123 Konner Avenue, Pine Brook, NJ.    The district's ESL teachers are looking forward to meeting Parents and Guardians on October 8 at 6:30 p.m.

The U.S. Department of Education named Hilldale Elementary School a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School on Monday, September 23. Hilldale is a kindergarten to grade 5 school of 325 students in the Montville Township Public Schools district, which is located in Morris County, New Jersey.   Hilldale Elementary School is a dynamic community. Hilldale educators place a strong emphasis on holistic development. As a result, Hilldale has cultivated a vibrant learning environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Math Teachers: Charles A. Grau who is completing a total of 30-years as an elected volunteer to the Montville Township Public Schools Board of Education, and 62 years in education in NJ, presented the MTPS 50-Years-of-Service Award to Toby Cohen. Grau taught Cohen math in the 1960’s. Cohen has been a Robert R. Lazar Middle School Math Teacher for 50-years.
