At the VFW State Convention in Wildwood Richard “Rick” Crescente, Jr., a history teacher at Robert R. Lazar Middle School, (pictured right) received the 2022-2023 Department of New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary [VFW] Middle School Teacher of the Year award. Also receiving the NJ State VFW Awards were (from l to r): Brigantine Community Elementary School teacher Mindy Pomatto and Delaware Valley Regional High School teacher Margaret Esposito. The awards were presented on June 17, 2023.
On June 17, Richard “Rick” Crescente, Jr., a history teacher at Robert R. Lazar Middle School received the 2022-2023 Department of New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary award from VFW State Commander Jay Boxwell.
Richard “Rick” Crescente, Jr., a history teacher at Robert R. Lazar Middle School and Montville Township VFW Post Commander Ken Hanzl. Crescente received the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary [VFW] Middle School Teacher of the Year award on June 17, 2023.
The award was presented to Crescente by State VFW Commander Jay Boxwell. The plaque Crescente received states that it was awarded: “In Recognition of Your Enduring Service and Extraordinary Dedication to the Citizen Education of Our Students.” Crescente received the award in Wildwood on June 17, 2023, during the New Jersey VFW & Auxiliary Convention.

Orchestra & band teachers Andrew Havington & Ellis Jasenovic organized the trip.
