MTHS - Yesterday Mrs. Nord and our 18–21 ACCE students stepped in to help teachers who didn’t have time to complete their food-drive shopping—and they did an incredible job! They researched pantry needs, compared prices, and worked together to make the most of the donated funds. Their efforts will provide 30 containers of shelf-stable milk, 16 jars of peanut butter, and 16 jars of jelly for families in our community. Building real-world skills + making a community impact = a major win!

MTHS - Yesterday, students in Criminology classes participated in an interactive, school-based field trip focused on traffic stops and law enforcement procedures. Working alongside Detective Johnson and Officers Palma and Vogt, students observed traffic stop demonstrations while learning about officer decision-making, citizen responsibilities, and the legal framework behind these procedures, including landmark cases such as Carroll v. U.S. (1925) and Arizona v. Gant (2009).

This hands-on learning experience gave students a deeper appreciation for the complexities of traffic enforcement and the importance of safety and communication between officers and citizens. A special thank you to Detective Johnson and Officers Palma and Vogt for their professionalism, knowledge, and engaging approach that helped make this an outstanding experience for our students.

MTHS - Former student, Lyndsey Korzen (Class of 2019), spoke to Mrs. Sheehan's fashion marketing class about her career in fashion and her journey to get where she is.

What made this visit extra special was that when she was a student, a parent who worked in the fashion industry (specifically at Hearst Magazines) came to speak to Lyndsey's class. At the end of the talk, Lyndsey approached the speaker and asked if she could come in and shadow her for a day. The speaker said yes and Lyndsey went into the offices to shadow her for the day during her senior year at MTHS. Now a graduate of FIT, Lyndsey works at Hearst Magazines for the very same woman who spoke to her class—a true full-circle moment!

About Lyndsey Korzen:
Ms. Korzen is a 2023 graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she earned a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications with a minor in Film and Media Studies.

During her time at FIT, Lyndsey gained hands-on experience in the fashion and media industries by volunteering at numerous New York Fashion Week shows and interning at a range of companies, including Hill Valley Inc. (specializing in product placement for film), Rachel Harrison Communications (focused on travel and hospitality PR), and Alice + Olivia (working in the events department). She also gained retail and showroom experience at places like Bloomingdales and Isabel Marant.

After graduation, Lyndsey began her career as an Executive Production Assistant at S_Projects Global, a boutique production company. There, she supported high-profile productions for clients such as Alo at Art Basel Miami, Equinox, Lacoste, Christian Siriano, and Alice + Olivia.

For the past year and a half, she has worked at Hearst Magazines as a Sales Assistant in the Home & Design advertising department. In this role, she supports the ad sales team across prestigious titles including ELLE DECOR, Veranda, Town & Country and House Beautiful, helping to manage advertising space across print and digital platforms. Her time at Hearst has given her a strong foundation in the advertising industry and valuable insight into working within a major media corporation.
