MTHS - Students in our band, choir and orchestra classes met in the auditorium this afternoon to hear from Kameron Ghanavati, Assistant Director of Admissions at the Manhattan School of Music. During the presentation, students learned about the application process, majors, housing and more. This experience provided students with a look into one of the world's premier music conservatories for classical music, jazz, and musical theatre.

MTHS - Halloween cupcake baking is underway in our culinary arts classes. Each lab group decided on a cupcake flavor base and a specific Halloween centered decoration. They were responsible for listing all ingredients and equipment and tools necessary to complete the lab, as well as divide the responsibilities including: head chef, assistant chef, dishwasher and supervisor.
After baking today, students will decorate the cupcakes for submission later this week!




MTHS - Ms. Iemmello's Public Speaking class conducts an in-class debate. Students were highly engaged in the crossfire portion of the activity!
The public speaking course is semester based and is focused on the skill of speaking in a public forum. Students learn about the beginning stages of effective public speaking/presentation skills. Units covered will include the diverse types of comedy, the emphasis of drama, and the art of persuasion. Activities, lessons, and instruction involve preparing speeches to inform, entertain, and persuade through the use of research method.




MTHS - When it is this nice out in late October, we go outside every day for physical education classes!






MTHS - Mr. Sanford is fingerprinted by our forensic science teachers, Mrs. Hinz and Ms. Slezak, for their candy thief case study.


MTHS - Last week students in our criminology classes participated in a true-to-life traffic stop simulation with Sergeant McGowan, Officer Manieri, and Officer Vogt. After the simulation students participated in a reflection activity.
The objectives for the lesson include:
• Provide the rationale behind different officer actions/reactions.
• Explain the process that occurs on a routine and high risk traffic stop.
• Outline the responsibilities of the citizen (subject) during a routine and high risk stop.
• Relate important court cases to officer procedures including: the Carroll Doctrine and Arizona v. Gant.
