MTHS - On behalf of the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA), we proudly congratulate Amy Zhang on receiving the prestigious Academic All American award. This national honor recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in academics, speech and debate competition, leadership, and character.
With more than 141,000 student members nationwide, fewer than 1% earn the Academic All American award each year. To qualify, students must complete at least five semesters of high school, achieve the Superior Distinction degree in the NSDA Honor Society, maintain a high GPA, earn strong scores on the SAT or ACT, and demonstrate exceptional character and leadership. This honor places Ms. Zhang among the top student performers in the country.
This achievement would not be possible without the MTHS community's continued support for our public speaking courses, the speech and debate advisors and, most importantly, the speech and debate team. Participation in speech and debate helps students grow as communicators, thinkers, and leaders. It sharpens reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, while preparing students for success in college, careers, and beyond.
