Dana Heitmann will serve as the Interim Assistant Principal for Montville Township High School [MTHS]. The promotion of Heitmann, to the July 16 to December 31, 2025, administrative position, was approved by the Montville Township Board of Education during the regularly scheduled July 15, 2025, meeting.

Heitmann holds a Masters of Arts in Administration from Montclair State University, a Masters of Arts in K-12 Technology Integration from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Education from William Paterson University.

Since 2009 Heitmann has been an MTHS Mathematics teacher, as well as a mentor, motivator and advocate for students, faculty, and staff at MTHS.

“I care deeply about our students,” Heitmann said. “I believe that every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered. I also believe staff and faculty benefit from this philosophy.”

Heitmann noted that this philosophy has guided her teaching and professional relationships during her 16 years at MTHS, and, in this administrative role, this philosophy will continue to guide her leadership.

Throughout her MTHS career, Heitmann has been an active and integral member of the MTHS community. A skilled and innovative teacher, Heitmann is adept at differentiated learning initiatives, prioritizing and helping students to integrate problem solving methodology and techniques into both test-taking and life, and developing lesson plans that align with state curriculum and NJSLA standards.

In addition to completing an administrative internship during her MTHS career, Heitmann was named Teacher of the Year in 2023-2024, has served as both a Class and SAC Advisor, led school-wide activities, and embraced her role as a mentor for faculty.

“I am pleased to announce that, beginning on July 16, Dana Heitmann will serve in the Interim Assistant Principal position at MTHS,” said MTHS Principal Douglas Sanford. “I am confident that Dana will be an outstanding administrator. Her vision, her dedication to excellence in education and all things, and her professional approach to leadership will make her an inspiring member of the MTHS administrative team and the community-at-large. I want to welcome Dana to this new position in MTHS, and let her know that we are all looking forward to collaborating with her as we launch the 2025-2026 academic year”

Montville Township Public Schools [MTPS] will welcome the return of the district’s full complement of faculty and staff on Monday, August 25.
