A guide dog sits calmly on a sunny day beside a white van with "The Seeing Eye" logo. The scene exudes a sense of alertness and companionship.

Forrest, our beloved Seeing Eye puppy, has officially “graduated” from Cedar Hill Elementary School! Forrest, known as “Forest” during his Cedar Hill residence, was lovingly raised under the care and guidance of school nurse, Mrs. Bonnie Di Cola, as part of Cedar Hill’s Community Service Learning Project, where students and staff help nurture and socialize puppies that will one day become Seeing Eye dogs.

After spending a wonderful year at Cedar Hill – from the time he was just 7 weeks old until 13 months old – Forrest has now returned to The Seeing Eye® for his formal training. He will first undergo a thorough physical exam to ensure he is healthy and ready for the demands of working life.

Once cleared, Forrest will begin 3-4 months of rigorous Seeing Eye training with a professional instructor. During this time, he’ll learn the important skills needed to safely and confidently guide his future human companion through the world.

Eventually, Forrest will be matched with a person who is blind or visually impaired, beginning a lifelong partnership built on trust, independence, and love.

The Montville Public School and Cedar Hill communities – and especially Mrs. Di Cola – are so proud of Forrest and grateful to have played a part in his journey to become a Seeing Eye dog. We wish him the very best as he takes this next big step toward making a difference in someone’s life!
