Cedar Hill Elementary School helped bring a district-wide musical to the stage this winter. THE LION KING JR was performed by eighteen students from the five elementary schools in the Montville Township Public Schools district. All roles were performed by students in grades two through five. The unique program provided a strong theatrical “team” for elementary students district-wide.

Vani Sharma is one of only three winners in the NJ Natural Gas [NJNG] Annual Conservation Poster Contest. Nearly 2,000 NJ fifth grade students entered. During an in-class awards ceremony, Sharma, her class, and her school, received awards from NJNG. Sharma’s poster highlighted recycling, composting, saving energy, eliminating pollution, and saving water. Sharma also encouraged others to use green sources of energy. Carolyn Cannon, the Manager of Educational Programming and Customer Advocacy at New Jersey Natural Gas, presented Sharma with an iPad, a framed copy of her winning poster, a Certificate of Excellence, and other items. In addition, awards were given to the William Mason fifth grade classes ($500) and teachers Jennifer McLaughlin, Brooke Williams and Melissa Garcia ($100 gift card). William Mason Elementary School also received $1000 for an environmental project.
Senior Joseph Amoroso as Ren McCormack in the Montville Township High School Theatre Company’s production of FOOTLOOSE. FOOTLOOSE will be performed at MTHS on Thursday, February 29, and Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2, at 7:30 p.m. A Sunday, March 3, matinee will be also performed at 2:00 p.m. Tickets purchased on-line are $15 for Adults and $12 for Students and Senior Citizens. Fifth grade students from Woodmont Elementary react to the premiere of their Valentine's Production “Woodmont Willie and the Idol of Amor.” Students used state-of-the-art technology that was provided to the Montville Township Public Schools district through a $60K that was awarded by the Montville Educational Foundation.
The Chinese Honor Society of Montville Township High School invites the community to celebrate the Lunar New Year at their “Chinese New Year Festival” on Thursday, February 15, 2024. The MTHS Chinese Honor Society will celebrate the Year of the Dragon at the “Chinese New Year Festival” from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in the Montville Township High School cafeteria. Admission is $5.00. The evening includes performances, snacks and activities. MTHS is located at 100 Horseneck Road in Montville Township, New Jersey.
Montville Township High School junior Julia Grzebielucha’s “Self Portrait in Sunlight” done in acrylic paint on canvas, will be exhibited at the prestigious “Fresh Perspectives” installation at the Morris Museum in Morristown. Judges selected only 50 pieces of art from the more than 250 submitted. Grzebielucha’s work is 1 of 3 from the MTHS Fine Arts Department. The exhibit runs March 15 through May 26, 2024.
The Montville Township Public Schools Counseling Department is making available an important mental health training program. “VIRTUAL Youth Mental Health First Aid” is an instructor-led online course designed for adults who are parents, guardians, teachers, coaches, camp counselors, etc. This course is being provided free of charge to parents or guardians of students in grades 6-12. Registration is required and seats are limited. The registration deadline is February 9, 2024.  “VIRTUAL Youth Mental Health First Aid” is presented by the National Council for Mental Health and New Bridge Mental Health Services. Those who participate in “VIRTUAL Youth Mental Health First Aid” will learn how to identify, understand, and respond to, signs of mental health and substance-use challenges among adolescents. Participants will build the skills and confidence needed to reach out and provide initial support to young people who are struggling. This course will also help adults learn how to connect young people with help.  The Counseling Department of MTPS has scheduled this VIRTUAL event for February 21 and 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.   “VIRTUAL Youth Mental Health First Aid” will cover:  Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges. How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis. How to connect youth with help. Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying. Complete a 2-hour, self-paced online class prior to February 21. On both February 21 and February 28, those who are registered will participate in a 2-hour Instructor-led video conference via Zoom from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants must attend both virtual evenings. Due to space limitations, please register only one parent or guardian per family, in order to allow additional families an opportunity to also register. Those who register will receive a link to the virtual course. Montville Township High School Invites Incoming Students and Parents to Orientation on Wed., Feb. 7 at 7:00 PM  New Students Will Have Opportunity to Learn About Innovative and Varied Programs and Activities  Montville Township, New Jersey – Incoming freshmen, and other students who will be new to Montville Township High School in fall 2024, are encouraged to accompany their parents or guardians to the “Incoming Student Orientation.” The orientation will begin in the MTHS auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7 (snow date February 8).  Students and parents will have an opportunity learn more about the school’s innovative curriculum and programs.  Current MTHS students, will join faculty, administrators, and staff to answer questions and to introduce incoming students to classes, clubs, activities, and teams.  “This is a wonderful opportunity for students and their parents and guardians,” said Superintendent Dr. Thomas A. Kindergarten Registration for Montville Township Public Schools’ 2024-2025 academic year opens Tuesday, January 9, 2024. All children of residents of Montville, Pine Brook, or Towaco, New Jersey, who have reached the age of five on or before October 1, 2024, are eligible for Kindergarten. Parents/Guardians must complete On-Line Registration for each child attending Kindergarten.  The 2024-2025 Kindergarten Registration deadline is Monday, February 12, 2024.
