MUDD 2019 - The 7th Annual Montville Ceramics Invitational

Montville Township High School to Host Dozens of Student Artists for Judging by Major Arts Programs

Montville Township High School [MTHS] will host MUDD 2019. MUDD 2019 is the 7th Annual All Ceramics Invitational Exhibition to be held at MTHS. Students from more than a dozen schools across NJ will display their ceramic art work in the MTHS Media Center on the evening of Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Doors open to the public at 6:30PM and MUDD 2019 Awards will be presented at 7:00PM. The unique art exhibit is FREE and open to all.

Student artists will each submit up to eight pieces of ceramics work for judging and exhibition at MUDD 2019. Roughly 100 ceramic pieces by extraordinary young artists will be on exhibit. Students will compete for top prizes.

The ceramic works will be judged in four categories, Hand Built Functional, Hand Built Sculptural, Wheel Thrown Functional and Wheel Thrown Sculptural, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd & Honorable Mention will be awarded in each category. Prizes in categories such as Best of Show will also be awarded.

All entries will be judged by ceramics professors and professional artists and curators from acclaimed fine arts programs and institutions.

This year’s judges will include representatives from Montclair Museum, Moore College of Art, Peters Valley School of Art, Rowan University and William Paterson University.

In addition to the competition, all area student artists are encouraged to bring portfolios and meet with university representatives. Traditionally thousands of dollars in scholarships or supplies are awarded to the top artists competing at this event.

Participating teachers from each NJ high school represented at MUDD 2019 are also asked to submit a piece of their own work for display only.

MTHS fine arts instructor Sharon Pflug-Moench, is the creator of the MUDD Exhibition at MTHS. Named the MTHS Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year, Pflug-Moench is currently celebrating 15 years as an MTHS arts teacher. Several Pflug-Moench pieces will be raffled at MUDD 2019 to help defray the costs of hosting the annual MUDD Exhibition. Raffle tickets can be purchased at MUDD 2019. The raffle will be drawn during the MUDD 2019 event.

The 7th Annual MUDD 2019 All Ceramics Invitational Exhibition will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 6:30PM in the MTHS Media Center. Awards will be presented at 7PM. MTHS is located at 100 Horseneck Road in Montville, New Jersey. Admission is FREE and open to all members of the public.
