In 2018 Montville Township launched the new brand, including a logo and motto for the district. The project was the culmination of input from students, faculty, administrators, parents and alumni from all seven Montville Township Public Schools. The new logo and motto have been implemented across the district to unify the Pre-K through Grade 12 district. The new logo incorporates symbolism that highlights the Montville Township landscape, dedication to academics and excellence, and the history of the public school system in the three towns that make up Montville Township: Montville, Pine Brook and Towaco. Additionally, the district motto, “Educate. Inspire. Empower.” is noted in the logo through the implementation of a book, an academic shield and a golden sunrise.

Montville Township Public Schools was awarded 1st Place by NJSPRA for the new brand image, logo and motto.

Montville Township Public Schools also was awarded a 2nd Place trophy for the brochure that explained the need for school renovations. That publication was mailed to the community in late 2017, and resulted in the passage of a referendum. As a result, upgrades to gymnasiums, libraries, bathrooms, roofs and HVAC systems took place over the summer of 2018 in Montville Township High School, Robert R. Lazar Middle School, Cedar Hill Elementary School and William Mason Elementary School. During the summer of 2019 the remaining three district schools, Hilldale Elementary, Valley View Elementary and Woodmont Elementary, will also benefit from the referendum passage with upgrades to gymnasiums, libraries, bathrooms, roofs and HVAC systems in those three facilities.

NJSPRA’s School Communication Awards recognize outstanding print and electronic collateral material in New Jersey educational communications programs.

According to the NJSPRA website, “The primary role of the professional school communicator is to disseminate important information about schools and school districts to all constituencies.” NJSPRA developed the School Communication Awards competition to recognize professional school communicators in New Jersey – and the products they develop – that go above and beyond to disseminate important messages to their publics.

“The NJSPRA Awards are a testament to the work that Susan Marinello, our District Communications Officer, does, and we are very proud to receive this recognition,” Superintendent Dr. René Rovtar said. “Each year communication is a priority. As a district, we do not take communication for granted.  Communication regularly tops the district’s annual list of goals. To be recognized in this way is a great honor.”

District Communications Officer Susan Marinello agreed, saying, “It is an honor to be recognized for the communications work we do here in Montville Township Public Schools. Communications is key.
