Montville School of Rock ROCKSGIVING concert to help fund new ambulance for 1st Aid Squad

Benefit Concert Will Raise Funds for Montville Township’s FREE EMT Service.

The award-winning Montville Township School [MTHS] of Rock [SOR] will hold the band’s annual ROCKSGIVING concert on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. This year the outstanding student musicians will perform their benefit concert for the Montville Township First Aid Squad’s [MTFAS] New Ambulance Campaign.

SOR concerts to benefit MTFAS provide a vital service for the Montville Township community.

The MTFAS is an organization of volunteers who are available 24/7. The fully trained volunteer EMTs respond to community calls for medical assistance free of charge 365 days a year. When needed, patients are also delivered to area hospitals in a fully loaded ambulance free of charge. This FREE service is provided to anyone living-in, visiting or working-in Montville Township who is in need of medical assistance.

Last month the Montville SOR was the subject of the Stevie Van Zandt Sonic Highways Hometown Documentaries Project. Students from SOR and MTHS Visual Media Studio students (video production) recently attended the New Jersey School Boards Association Annual Convention in Atlantic City to present their award-winning documentary and to talk about the importance of Rock and Roll music in the Montville Township Community.

SOR was founded 14 years-ago with a duel mission: 1.) To provide a creative space for students with an interest in performing rock and roll music, and 2.) to play benefit concerts for non-profit community organizations.

Over the years SOR has held benefit concerts for such organizations as: The Homeless Bus, The Montville Educational Foundation, The Montville Parent Teacher Councils, The Montville Drug Awareness Council, Eleventh Hour Rescue, The Montville Township Kiwanis Food Pantry and more.

The November 20, 2018 concert for MTFAS’ new ambulance will be the fourth concert SOR has held since June, to help raise funds for the township’s FREE first aid squad.

MTFAS currently has two aging ambulances. The organization will require $220,000 to replace just one of the ambulances. Since the beginning of the year the organization has received just over $84,000 in donations toward a new, fully loaded, state of the art ambulance. In addition to raising funds for a new ambulance, the MTFAS also requires annual donations in order to continue to provide FREE medical services and to keep the ambulances fully stocked with supplies. Many MTHS students also learn EMT training at MTFAS.

SOR is a student led group, which also includes alumni. Students often practice during lunch as well as after school and on Sundays. Former students often attend practices and performances. Together they learn to cover hits from all genres.

“There is no other club like this,” said Advisor and Founder Anthony Sia. “Where else can musicians at all levels come together and just learn to be great? And, the really great thing is, these kids really work hard both musically, as well as for their community.”

The annual SOR ROCKSGIVING concert will be held at Montville Township High School in the Dr. Robert O. Stafford Auditorium on Tuesday, November 20, 2108 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Admission is FREE for students and $10 for adults and includes a full dinner from Marra’s, Gencarelli’s and Calandra’s.  All SOR concerts are family friendly. The MTHS address is 100 Horseneck Road, Montville, New Jersey.
