OneMontville Green In Day to Glow Green with Light of 1,000 Luminaries

1000 Luminaries to light the night for Acceptance Respect Kindness

Schools, businesses and places of worship join OneMontville to promote Acceptance Respect and Kindness

On Friday, May 18, the OneMontville organization of Montville Township, New Jersey, will host the Third Annual Green In Day. Politicians, township employees, students, teachers, business owners and others will wear green in support of Acceptance, Respect and Kindness for all.

In addition, at sunset, the community will glow with the light of nearly 1,000 OneMontville Green In Day Luminaries. Close to 500 luminaries will line Changebridge Road from The Montville Township Municipal Building to Horseneck Road. Additionally, all seven Montville Township Public Schools, Pine Brook Jewish Center, the schools as St Pius X, The Chelsea at Montville, Lakeland Bank, and many places of worship, businesses and families will display luminaries.

“It is exciting and inspiring,” said Montville Township Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. René Rovtar. “As a community, we launched OneMontville in September of 2015 to help raise awareness of Kindness and to encourage Mindfulness of self and others. On May 18, 2018 the community will hold the Third Annual Green In Day. Public and private schools in the township, as well as businesses, places of worship and families will be wearing green, and lighting luminaries to show respect for each other.”

All who live and work in Montville Township, New Jersey are encouraged to #WearGreenMay18.  Any green can be worn to show support, but many will also sport OneMontville Green In Day T-shirts. OneMontville uses proceeds from t-shirt and luminary sales to provide the community with meaningful programs that promote Acceptance of all people.

In addition to Green In Day, OneMontville has established an annual Martin Luther King Day of Respect and Community Service, a movie series that highlights stories of kindness such as Wonder and Love, Simon, #ShareKindness Awards, and the OneMontville Unites Speaker Series. The next title in the series is Dare to be Diverse: How to Stand Out and Fit in at the Same Time on Sunday, June 3 at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 70 River Road, Montville.

“We work with all facets of the Montville Township community to create an environment of Acceptance, Respect and Kindness,” said OneMontville President Shari Schwartz. “This is our third annual Green In Day, and our first with the luminary initiative; which really took off! It will be beautiful. We are so grateful for the enthusiasm and excitement from the businesses, places of worship, schools and families. It is gratifying. Young and old are involved in helping to #LightUpTheNight. It is very powerful to be a part of OneMontville.  So many different people come together, and work together, to raise awareness of Kindness. The work we do as volunteers for OneMontville is gratifying. Montville Township is a great community.”

OneMontville Wear Green May 18!

OneMontville is a volunteer-run non-profit that provides programming and events to support their mission to promote Acceptance, Respect and Kindness.

Formed in September of 2015, the OneMontville mission is:

“To create and promote a climate of acceptance, inclusion and kindness which teaches and celebrates respect for one another by embracing and being enriched by the diversity that comprises the Montville Township Community.  The mission can only be fully accomplished through the involvement and commitment of community leaders, religious leaders, business leaders, and residents of all ages, races, religions, ethnicities, abilities, gender identity or sexual orientation.”

All residents and visitors from all towns are invited to view the Green In Day glow of Kindness. Lighted luminaries will line Changebridge Road from Horseneck Road to 195 Changebridge Road. Throughout the town all schools will also be lit.

Despite the predicted rain, OneMontville Green In Day will go on. Luminaries that line the sidewalks will be waterproofed to insure that the community glows green in support of the OneMontville mission.
