On Monday, June 22, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., Robert R. Lazar Middle School, in Montville Township, New Jersey, will host a Virtual 8th Grade promotion ceremony.
"Tonight is a big, BIG night for our Lazar community," Lazar Principal Michael Pasciuto said. "Tonight we will launch our virtual 8th grade promotion to celebrate the achievements of our 8th graders as they are promoted into 9th grade."
Pasciuto told students, during his videoed morning announcements message, that there is excitement, anticipation and "some nerves, as this is our first venture for all of us, but we are very, very excited because we feel that the product that we are putting forward does a nice job of recognizing your achievements and celebrates you even during this difficult time."
Montville Township Public Schools have been on Distance Learning since Mid-March due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
"Very, very proud of our teaching staff, our students and our parents, for getting us to this point" Pasciuto said of the cooperative team effort that has carried the school and the district from mid-March 2020 to the end og the 2019-2020 academic year.
"One day!" he noted, pointing out that following the June 22 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, students will attend one more day of school on June 23. "That's it. We have one day to go and then we can celebrate."
"Congrats to our 8th graders and their families on your successes, especially during this difficult time," Pasciuto also wrote in his June 22 Schoology memo. There he also thanked Lion's Eye and Mai Day productions for creating the virtual event.
The 2020 Virtual Lazar 8th Grade Promotion will begin promptly at 6PM.
