BOND REFERENDUM -- VOTE DECEMBER 12

Bond Referendum. VOTE December 12. Montville Township Public Schools logo.

ACADEMIC & PERSONAL GROWTH FOR STUDENTS

Montville Township Public Schools recognizes the need for instructional space, security improvements and well-maintained facilities to preserve our goals for academic and personal growth in our students’ education.

SPACE

  • Our elementary schools are already

more than 100 students above capacity,

    and more students are expected.

  • An average of 9 students per month are

    currently entering our elementary

    schools.

  • Today’s teaching also requires more

    small-group instruction and large-group

    flexibility.

SECURITY

  • Two-stage vestibules can be built faster

with upfront bond financing to meet

    modern safety standards.

HVAC

  • Systems in some schools have reached

the point of energy inefficiency and risks

    for repairs.

  • Replacing them through bond funding

    captures state aid.

Funding Urgent Needs

An approved referendum would fund urgent needs at the elementary schools and free up the annual budget for renovations at Robert R. Lazar Middle School and Montville Township High School.

A write-and-wipe board divides a single classroom so teachers can simultaneously present unrelated lessons on both sides of it. Classrooms throughout the district are divided into 2, 3 and sometimes 4, in order to make room for several classes to meet at the same time in the same space. The dividers between classes are temporary bulletin boards that do little to filter out distractions.
