Health Office Procedures

These guidelines are designed to protect the health of all children in schools. It is at the discretion of the nurse to send a child home if they are not well. Please remember to notify the health office when your child is going to be absent, late or on vacation. If you send your child to school sick or your child becomes sick at school you will be called to come pick them up IMMEDIATELY.

Remain Home for 24 hours if your student has:

  • A fever of 100 degrees or above (without fever reducing medications)

  • Vomiting or Diarrhea

  • Strep Throat

    • May return after taking medication for 24 hours

    • A note from a primary care provider is required

  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye)

    • May return after taking medication for 24 hours

    • A note from a primary care provider is required

  • Lice

    • Must be nit free for 24 hours before returning to school

    • The child must be brought in by the parent or guardian to the health office for clearance to re-enter the classroom

Physical Education Excusal

  • 1 day: a note from the parent/guardian is required

  • more than 1 day: a note from the primary care provider is required

  • Students using crutches, wearing a cast, or in any type of brace are not allowed to participate in Physical Education. A note from a primary care provider is required to excuse their non-participation. To resume participation, a new note from the primary care provider must be provided.

Medications

  • No medications will be administered without a completed Authorization for Medication form.

  • The medication also must be in the original prescription bottle or original container.

  • Please refer to the medication policies if you have any questions.

Chicken Pox

  • Chicken pox requires the child to be home until all pox are scabbed and dry. Clearance from the nurse is necessary before the child can re-enter the classroom and must have a note from the primary care provider.
