Degrees and Certifications:
Growing up in a family of educators, I quickly learned that an excellent education makes a difference in a child's life. This begins with the teacher. Children must feel safe, loved, and challenged upon entering kindergarten and every grade thereafter. They need to know that their teachers believe in their success. This is my job for each student that I teach. Every day I am guided by the notion of how I would want my own children treated by their teachers.
I knew as early as second grade that I wanted to be an educator and being one is truly my passion. I began my teaching career in 1996 in Pequannock as a third grade teacher. While taking some time off from a full time position to take care of my four boys, I continued teaching by tutoring, substituting, and developing and facilitating a writing workshop for elementary students. During that time, I was also trained in Orton-Gillingham which has proven beneficial for my reading instruction. In September of 2014, I joined Woodmont School as a basic skills teacher. This was a great opportunity to work with teachers and children in multiple grades. In September 2018, I will teach second grade, and I look forward to a fun-filled year of learning. I am grateful to work with such wonderful staff, children, and parents.
When I am not teaching, I like to spend time with my family, watch my boys sporting events, exercise, and relax at the beach.
