    English 9 Summer Assignment:

    Please read ONE of the novels below:

    Be prepared to develop an in-class project using your summer reading novel when we return from summer break.  Please have the novel read before the first day of school.

     

    English 10 Summer Assignment:

    Please read ONE of the memoirs below:

    The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls  OR   This Boy’s Life by Tobias Wolff  OR   Funny in Farsi  by Firoozeh Dumas

    Be prepared to develop an in-class project using your summer reading novel when we return from summer break.  Please have the novel read before the first day of school.

     

    Materials for English 9 & 10 Classes:

    • Organization: Please have a notebook AND folder specifically for English class (this may be a spiral or 3-ring binder).
    • Writing Utensils:  Black or blue pen AND #2 pencils.
    • Other (optional): Highlighters, Post-it notes, whiteout or any other material you find helpful.
    • Please review the information below to familiarize yourself with some general information about the class.

     

     

    Students:

    Please log-in to Google Classroom daily to check for the following:

    • Weekly Homework Calendar located in the "About" tab

      • Includes reading assignments, quiz and project dates. 
      • Includes a brief list of daily topics
    • Announcements

    • Assignments: 

      • Running list of assignments
      • Due dates
      • Submit assignments (MUST click "Turn In" to officially submit work)
    • Handouts and other materials for class (digital copies)

      • Access to Writing Materials
      • Helpful Materials for the current unit including "Extra Study Materials"

     

    Parents/Guardians:

    Please ask your son or daughter to show you their Google Classroom "Stream".  

    The Weekly Homework Calendars can be accessed in the "About" tab and printed out. Hard copies are distributed bi-weekly.

     

    Extra Help

    Mrs. Clark's Study Group will be held every DAY 1, DAY 2 and DAY 3 during the 2nd half of lunch in Room 302.  Stop by the English Resource Room (directly across from room 302) if you have questions or need help with the material we are working on!!  Please let me know in class if you are planning on stopping by during lunch that day.  Thank you.

     
     
    About Mrs. Clark
    I earned my Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Afterward, I completed a Post-baccalaureate program to earn my teacher's certification at Caldwell University.  I am proud to say that I earned my M.A. in Reading from Rowan University and am currently working on a School Librarian certification at William Paterson University.  During the past ten years, I have taught English 9, English 9 Honors, English 10 and English 11. Currently, I am very happy and excited to be teaching and working with both  9th and 10th-grade students this year!
