Welcome to Mr. Stech, School Counselor's Page!Grade Level: K - 5Department: School CounselingTeam: Woodmont SchoolSubject: School Counselor/Character EducationContact InformationPhone: (973) 331 - 7100, ext. 1815E-mail: email@example.comGreetings Woodmont students, families and visitors! Thanks so much for stopping by the webpage for Woodmont's school counseling and character education program! I am proud to be Woodmont's school counselor and am grateful to be in my tenth year leading Woodmont's school counseling and character education program. As your school counselor, my primary role is to ensure that all of our Woodmont students receive the support they need in school to continue in their social and emotional development. This of course includes individual counseling of students whenever needed, to address concerns both large and small. My work also includes working with small groups of students through fun lunch time activities as well as providing regular classroom guidance lessons in each classroom at each grade level. We have made a conscious effort at Woodmont to really focus on character education in the last few years. Character education refers to activities that are intended to include all of our students, parents and staff in some way, with the intention of building a really positive school climate that increases everyone's sense of connectedness and success here at Woodmont. As our school motto says, "Your journey to success begins here!" These activities include such things as the gardens that surround our building and are maintained by students, staff and parents at each grade level; our "Cats and Cubs" program that connects students with staff members who serve as a mentor to them; our "Footprints" girls' program and our "Woodmont Knights" boys' program; our annual "Multicultural Day"; our annual "Career Day" and many other things. We are proud that our ongoing journey to success - through the hard work of all of our students, staff and families - has resulted in Woodmont being chosen as one of only 68 National Schools of Character in the U.S. in 2016! We thank each of you for what you bring to Woodmont! To established Wildcats and new visitors alike we say, "Welcome to the Woodmont family!"To learn more about the other staff members at Woodmont School please see the attached link: Welcome to Woodmont Handbook 17-18.
