Students and Staff say Thank You to show Mr. Delroy, our custodian, our gratitude for his hard work and smile.

William Mason Elementary School has been selected by the  the New Jersey Alliance for Social, Emotional and Character Development (NJASECD)  as a 2018 New Jersey Honorable Mention School of Character.     We are proud of this recognition and continue to strive in developing as a school.

Welcome!  My name is Teresa Gorgia and I am the school counselor at William Mason.  I joined William Mason in 2013 and am very excited to be a resource to you and your child as we work together to support their success.  I look forward to working with you and your chlid this school year.

As a school counselor, my role is to promote the academic and social development for all students.  I am a face that your child will see both in and out of the classroom on a daily basis.  I work with students during classroom school counseling lessons, lunch bunch groups, as well as seeing students individually on an as needed basis or regular basis.   I have an open door policy for our students and all students can ask their teacher to see me if they need to.   I am also the Intervention and Referral Resources Coordinator, 504 coordinator, and Anti-bullying Specialist at William Mason.
Classroom lessons:  All students receive lessons in the classroom setting.  Lessons focus on the character education pillars, as well as other topics ex: friendship, coping skills, bullying prevention, and conflict resolution.  Second grade students will be receiving weekly lessons.  All other grade levels will receive lessons 1-2x a month.
Lunch bunch Groups: Lunch bunch group meets during the lunch period for 6-8 weeks. This provides a small group environment for students to foster friendships  and social skills while participating in an enjoyable activity during their lunchtime.   Students can be reccomended by parents/guaridans and/or teachers.  Students can also ask to join, which many of them do.  They enjoy lunch bunch and I enjoy having them!
As the school counselor, I am also a resource to parents.  I encourage and appreciate communication as we are a team working together. Please do not hestiate to contact me via email at lucia.gorgia@montville.net or call me at x1615 with any questions, concerns, or to touch base regarding your child. Communication between home and school is not only beneficial, but essential.  Please also look through my website at the links provided.  You will find information regarding programs, parenting resources, as well as newsletters which are distributed via the HSA memo.
I look foward to a wonderful school year!

    A little bit about me..

I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Seton Hall University and I also have a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University.  In addition to my school counseling certification, I also have a license in Clinicial Social Work and a certification in School Social Work. Prior to William Mason, I worked in a private school as well as in an outpatient mental health office for several years.   I have extensive experience in individual/group/famiy counseling and  have implemented social skills programs.  I have also served as a member of the School Crisis Response Team for Morris County.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, attempting pintrest crafts and recipes (they never come out quite right!) and playing with my two young daughters.  I also enjoy going to the beach and reading.  I am also fluent in Italian, which the students are impressed by when I tell them that it was
    my first language.
