William Mason Elementary School has been selected by the  the New Jersey Alliance for Social, Emotional and Character Development (NJASECD)  as a 2018 New Jersey Honorable Mention School of Character.     We are proud of this recognition and continue to strive in developing as a school.

Welcome!  My name is Teresa Gorgia and I am the school counselor at William Mason.   This is my 5th year and I am very excited to be a resource to you and your child as we work together to support their success. I am a face that your child will see daily, both in and out of the classroom.

At William Mason, my door is always open for our students. I provide ongoing support to help our students meet their academic and social goals.  I also counsel students individually, in small groups, and go into their classrooms to teach character education lessons. I am also the Intervention and Referral Resources and 504 Coordinator for William Mason. I also serve as the the Anti-bullying Specialist for our school.
As your school counselor, I encourage and appreciate parental participation as we are a team working together.  Please do not hesitate to contact me via email at lucia.gorgia@montville.net  or at 973-331-7100 x1615 with any questions, concerns, or to touch base regarding your child.  Communication between home and school is not only beneficial and important, but essential.

    A little bit about me..

I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Seton Hall and I also have a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University.  In addition to my school counseling certification, I also have a license in Clinicial Social Work and a certification in School Social Work. Prior to William Mason, I worked in a private school as well as in outpatient mental health for several years.   I have extensive experience in individual/group/famiy counseling, have implemented social skills programs, and have served as a member of the School Crisis Response Team for Morris County.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking (but not the clean up)  and playing with my two daughters.  I also speak Italian, which I impress the students with when they ask me to speak it:)

I look forward to a wonderful year!
