5th Annual Turkey Trot Embraces Exercise and Gratitude

The William Mason cougar mascot and the William Mason turkey attended the 5th Annual Turkey Trot at William Mason Elementary School. Turkey ran some laps and Cougar waved and smiled.

The Fifth Annual William Mason Turkey Trot was held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. The brisk morning event challenged William Mason Elementary School’s 310 students to run two laps before 9:30 a.m.

Gratitude and exercise are the themes for this annual William Mason annual Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) event.

The school’s traditional turkey was on hand to greet each student as they embarked on their chilly run. Turkey handed out many high fives when students called out things for which they are grateful, such as: their parents, school, themselves, and turkey!

Turkey also ran several laps with the students.

Joining the fifth year Turkey Trot traditions for 2022 was the William Mason mascot. This huggable cougar waved and smiled, cheering students on as they completed their laps and declared their thanks.

Students and faculty, along with Turkey and Cougar completed the Annual Turkey Trot with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude.

Parents Shari Schwartz and Aili Monahan volunteered to dress as Turkey and Cougar.
