“Thank you. McDonald’s! We’re Lovin’ it!” Those are the cheers heard on video from educators at William Mason Elementary School in Montville, New Jersey. William Mason educators, in the Montville Township Public Schools district, made a poster and a video to share their gratitude with the national company.

“We wanted to thank McDonald’s for their generous offer of giving teachers a full breakfast for a week!” said kindergarten teacher Diane Oberlin.

Nationwide, McDonald’s provided free “Thank You Meals” to educators from October 11-15, 2021. A valid educator ID was all that was required to get the free breakfasts. Teachers were given a choice of one entrée, as well as hash browns and a beverage.

The morning treat was served in a Happy Meal box with a thank you note that said: “Thank you for everything that you do. You are an inspiration!”

Oberlin, and teaching aide Kim Beiermeister, were so appreciative of the kind McDonald’s acknowledgement, that they made a large “Thank You” sign and organized a group of colleagues to say thanks in a video.

“It made our morning,” Oberlin said of the McDonald’s Thank You campaign. “It feels great to be acknowledged, and appreciated for our hard work, by such a big franchise.”

William Mason educators wanted to find a public way to say thank you to McDonald’s. It was Oberlin and Beiermeister who decided to organize a big Thank You statement with a poster and a video featuring their co-workers saying “Thank You!”

William Mason educators who participated in the filming included teachers, aides, a guidance counselor, the school nurse, and the principal. Among them were: Teresa Gorgia, Fatima Rustemi, Maria Millan, Kaitlyn Tierney, Diane Oberlin, David Melucci and Kim Beiermeister.

“We really appreciate the free breakfast McDonald’s gave to teachers – it was just wonderful,” Oberlin said. “A full week of free breakfast -- not just a coffee for one day -- breakfast for a week! It was really nice!”

“Together with our Owner/Operators, we're proud to serve the people who make our communities a better place, and this is an important time to say thank you to some of our everyday heroes,” said Joe Erlinger, President, McDonald’s USA, in a statement to media. “We were honored to give away 12 million free Thank You Meals to first responders and healthcare workers last year and now, with educators going above and beyond, we're excited to recognize them in a way only McDonald's can.”

McDonald’s initiated the Thank You Meals program to recognize teachers for handling tremendous challenges since the onset of the pandemic.

William Mason teachers also wanted to acknowledge the employees of McDonald's, who, they said, were so kind and generous in serving the Thank You Meals.

The Thank You video from William Mason educators can be viewed on the Montville Township Public Schools YouTube channel, as well as the Montville Township Public Schools social media platforms on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
