September 18, 2020
Dear Members of the Montville Township Public Schools Community:
Having completed a successful summer conditioning session with our fall athletes, we are now approaching the start of our fall sports season. I continue to be grateful to all of our students, athletes, coaches, and families for their adherence to our COVID-19 safety standards and protocols. Your attention to these practices helps to keep us all safe and well.
As a big fan of Mustang sports, I am excited to see practices begin and for our games to take place this fall. As you might imagine, our fall 2020 season will be different in many respects. Outdoor events still remain under a limit of 500 persons for outdoor gatherings in accordance with the Executive Order issued by the Governor. NJSIAA has indicated that the 500 limit does not include players and coaches. Please review the following guidelines:
For Practices and Games for Sports Other than Football
Tickets will not be required for these events. Spectators must adhere to social distancing and must wear face coverings if they are in close proximity with others.
In some cases we will need to limit the number of students who may travel to away games in order to maintain social distancing on buses.
For Home Football Games/Scrimmages
The district will provide each player with two tickets. Band members and cheerleaders will also receive two tickets. We also must provide a certain number of tickets for the visiting team as the 500 limit includes all attendees, not only home fans. Both home and away spectators must sit/stand in designated sections.
We understand that this does severely limit the number of parents, family, friends and students that may attend these games. Unfortunately, these are the circumstances that all high schools must comply with.
The Montville Athletic Boosters will be operating a limited concession stand at “the corral.” All items for sale will be prepackaged food and beverages.
For Home Football Games/Scrimmages
There will be a limited number of tickets available for away games. Information regarding the purchase of tickets will be provided through the Athletic Director’s Office.
We will be sending our cheerleaders to away contests. Please note, however, the number of cheerleaders attending away contests may be limited by bus availability and/or facility space available at the away contest.
Please feel free to contact your child’s coach or Mr. Wayne Guarino, our Athletic Director, if you should have any specific questions regarding this information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION from Montville Township Public Schools Athletic Director, Wayne Guarino
This information has been provided to athletes and other students participating in games:
Dear Mustang Community,
I want to thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these unique challenges. We are truly grateful to be in a position to proceed with a fall season. All coaches, athletes and parents have done a tremendous job preparing and educating our students on the importance of following and maintaining strict safety standards so we can play.
All Home contests other than Varsity Football
Tickets will NOT be required to attend these events. All attendees MUST practice safe social distancing and MUST wear masks.
Away Cross Country Meets Meets
which take place at Greystone Central Park will not permit fans at the start or finish lines. Viewing areas will be limited.
Home Football Games
In accordance with Governor Murphy's Executive Order and NJSIAA regulations, all schools must adhere to a maximum of 500 spectators per athletic venue. The Super Football Conference Patriot White Division protocols stipulate that the home school must allot a minimum of 30 percent of available tickets to the visiting school. This depends upon the physical constraints of each school's seating capacity, given social distancing standards. Therefore, moving forward, ticket allotment and admission prices will vary from to school to school within the Conference.
The MTHS Athletic Department will be utilizing a traditional paper ticket process with complimentary admission for all spectators. There will be NO tickets sold at the gate. All tickets will be provided to Home/Away program participants only.
At the onset of each Home game week, your son or daughter will receive their allotted tickets (2 per player/cheerleader/band member) through the coaching staff of their respective program. Please be sure to safeguard these tickets as replacements will NOT be issued.
Montville Athletic Department guidelines for Home Football attendance are as follows:
? The Home spectators must park in the front parking lot of the HS.
? Masks MUST be worn at all times - spectators who fail to do so will be asked to leave the Stadium.
? Spectators will enter through the double gate near the softball turf.
? Spectators will then proceed along the fence line perimeter, have tickets checked at the top of stairs, and continue down the tennis courts staircase, and into the Home stands. (bit.ly/mthsfootball)
? The home/away stands have been marked to ensure safe social distancing.
? Group your family on/around the “X” located on the bleachers.
? On the back of each ticket, you will find a QR code - please use your phones to register that you are present at the contest (contact tracing).
? During halftime, please be mindful of those around you when using the bathrooms. DO NOT create large social groups.
? When the game ends, please return to your vehicles the same way you entered the stadium.
Away Football Games
The away school can utilize online ticketing or traditional ticketing. These tickets will be limited to 30% of total (500) or to the capacity of what the visiting bleachers can accommodate. In addition, Cheerleaders will be traveling to our away contests. If a school is using an online platform, a code will be distributed at the beginning of each game week.
Once again, thank you all for your cooperation. Please keep in mind that all interscholastic athletic departments are doing their very best to ensure the health and well-being of every student-athlete and spectator. Your cooperation is necessary to maintain a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all those in attendance.
