On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, Montville Township High School welcomed twenty new inductees into the MTHS National Honor Society. All twenty dedicated scholars have also demonstrated a strong commitment to service, leadership and character during their high school careers.
NHS is a national organization dedicated to strengthening the four pillars that define the National Honor Society. These pillars are Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. The purpose of NHS is to apply the characteristics of these pillars to helping others within and outside of the MTHS school community.
The Fall 2022 NHS induction ceremony was coordinated by the NHS executive board and membership under the guidance of advisors Angela Kalavrezos and Laura Rivera. The MTHS NHS Executive Committee is: Peter Elias, President; Eshani Patel, Vice President; Kevin Arrigo, Treasurer, and Gabrielle Sumka, Secretary.
At the Induction ceremony Patel spoke of Scholarship, Sumka of Service, Elias of Leadership, and Arrigo of Character.
Principal Douglas Sanford and the 2021-2022 MTHS Teacher of the Year, Rick DeBonta also spoke at the November 16 Induction Ceremony.
All Fall 2022 inductees have met the national and MTHS NHS criteria in the areas of academics, leadership, service, and character. Each has been admitted based on the selection committee’s review of their application.
NHS members agree to help their peers through tutoring during lunch. NHS members also assist with evening events held during he school year. Additionally, all members are dedicated to upholding the four pillars of NHS throughout their high school careers.
