The Information Technology Services (ITS) Department of Montville Township Public Schools (MTPS) received Lenovo’s 2020 Warranty Self-Maintainer Award. The ITS team was notified of this achievement by a letter and plaque, which arrived just before the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

Lenovo, a multinational technology company, is the supplier the school district uses for the one to one program that provides laptops to students and faculty.

“Congratulations to your organization and specifically to your service team for achieving Lenovo’s Outstanding Service Award status for fiscal year 2020!” Victoria Pawelkowski, Sr. Warranty Channels Manager of Lenovo North America, wrote in her letter to the Montville Township Board of Education.

Lenovo’s “Service Award is presented only to the top 10 percent of Self-Maintainers for the entire North American region,” Pawelkowski’s letter explained.

“This is an outstanding achievement,” noted Superintendent Dr. René Rovtar. “The ITS Department manages a considerable volume of work, and, when you consider the volume of work required to maintain devices during the 2020 fiscal year, a year which involved shifting the district to remote learning and maintaining thousands of devices for students and staff members, we are very proud of the ITS Department.”

The team directly responsible for achieving the Lenovo 2020 Warranty Self-Maintainer Award includes: Jeffrey Bonicioli, Giuseppe DiMarco, Debra Rosellini, Andrew Wickenheisser, and Information Technology Services Supervisor Austin Thomsen.

“We were just doing our job,” said Bonicioli, when asked how he felt when he learned about the Lenovo award.

“Yes,” agreed Wickenheisser. “We were surprised. We didn’t even know there was an award.”

The MTPS ITS department supports more than 3,400 pre-K to grade 12 students, and over 800 educators and other employees, in eight locations.

“There are a lot of repairs in a district of this size,” noted Thomsen. “We work to handle them quickly and efficiently. I think the quantity and thoroughness may have contributed to our receiving this award.”

“It is always crazy,” explained Bonicioli. “And, in the last year or two, with so much emphasis on the need for remote technology, it has been double crazy.”

An integral part of the MTPS school district’s educational support team, ITS self-maintains all Lenovo devices for the entire district’s one to one laptop initiative for students and staff.

“We want to thank your service team for the significant contributions that have been provided over the last year,” Pawelkowski added. “Your service team’s diligence to delight every customer while delivering superior warranty service is much appreciated.”

In addition to the Lenovo devices, MTPS ITS maintains all district technology, including: phones, copiers, desktop computers, other educational support technology devices such as projectors, white boards, and monitors, as well as assisting with website oversite, many live feed events, and remote webinars.

“They all do an outstanding job,” said Montville Township Board of Education President, Charles Grau of the ITS team members. “We are both proud of, and grateful for, the work they do.”

Montville Township Public Schools are located in Morris County, New Jersey. The district includes five elementary schools, Robert R. Lazar Middle School and Montville Township High School. Montville Township is comprised of Montville, Towaco and Pine Brook, NJ.
