As Distance Learning launched in the Montville Township Public Schools, as well as across the nation, Kimberly Kao and her students, were chosen by the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), to be featured in a new educational program called: “Still Learning.”

“Still Learning,” is a new on-line educational series sponsored by NJEA that highlights innovative approaches to education that are implemented by New Jersey teachers.

Kao, a kindergarten teacher at Cedar Hill Elementary School in Montville Township, New Jersey, was filmed teaching in mid-March, during the early weeks of Distance Learning implementation.

Kao’s episode, entitled: “Still Learning – Kindergarten Online,” is a two minute and eighteen second educational feature that was released by NJEA on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

“I want them (students) to feel that sense of comfort in doing what they have been doing in the classroom,” Kao said of her approach to distance learning. She explained that so much of kindergarten education is interaction. With distance learning she is exploring innovative ways to provide a sense of community, despite the social distance of a virtual classroom.

“Still Learning – Kindergarten Online,” was produced by the Emmy® Award-Winning team of Ronan & Ronan Productions. Both Deborah Ronan and Kevin Ronan have a long history of producing educational programs for NJEA. The team are each Emmy®-winners for NJEA’s former television program, “Classroom Close-up, NJ”.Deborah Ronan is also an MTHS, Lazar and Woodmont alum.

“Still Learning – Kindergarten Online” can be viewed on-line.
