Three Montville Township High School seniors will perform solos at NJPAC on Sunday, November 17, 2019. In addition, MTHS senior Anna Rehberg will also be honored as a recipient of the "NJ Governor's Awards in Arts Education." Rehberg is one of only four students chosen in the state for her talents in music.
Last spring, Maddie Bustamante, Rachelle Philip and Rehberg, each landed in the top 20 of their vocal parts and were selected to be NJ All-State High School Chorus. Over 1,000 students auditioned for the opportunity to perform in the prestigious state-wide chorus. At the time Bustamante ranked #5 of 150, Philip ranked #16 of 180, and Rehberg ranked #2 of 180.
In preparing for the fall 2019 concerts all three MTHS students received solos.
Rehberg was also selected as one of only four recipients of the "NJ Governor's Awards in Arts Education."
“Out of 1000+ students that auditioned for All-State chorus, and the 450 that were chosen for the mixed ensemble, the judges took the top students in each voice part (it was down to 16),” said MTHS Choral Director and AP Music Theory teacher Kristen Markowski about the process that led to Rehberg’s selection . “From there, students had to complete an application, submit information about themselves and their experience, as well as a letter of recommendation from their choral director. Applicants then auditioned in front of the NJ Choral Procedures committee with specific sections of pieces from the All-State repertoire.”
“What a wonderful honor,” said Montville Township Public Schools Supervisor of the Fine and Performing Arts Edward Fleischman. “Anna couldn't be more deserving.”
Rehberg will be officially recognized at the NJPAC concert. The NJPAC Concert, will feature solos by all three MTHS All-State choral performers. The concert will be held on Sunday, November 17 at 3:00 p.m. Rehberg, Bustamante and Philip also performed in Atlantic City this month at the 2019 NJEA Conference.
Rehberg will also be performing at the “NJ Governor's Awards in Arts Education” 40th Anniversary Ceremony in May of 2020. INFO: http://www.njgaae.org
