Three MTHS Athletes Sign Division 1 Letters of Intent

Three MTHS  seniors signed with NCAA Division 1 universities: Ian Kaiser:, Baseball,Binghamton University; Caitlin Olensky, Softball, University of Nebraska and Karl Monaco, Wrestling, Columbia University.

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, three Montville Township High School athletes signed Letters of Intent for Division 1 sports.

The tree Class of 2023 Mustangs who have committed to competing at the D1 collegiate level at NCAA Universities are:

  • Ian Kaiser, Binghamton University – Baseball
  • Caitlin Olensky, University of Nebraska – Softball
  • Karl Monaco, Columbia University - Wrestling

Excitement defined the Signing Day event, as friends, family and the MTHS Mustang Mascot joined the celebration. Additionally, MTHS administrators, principal Douglas Sanford and Athletic Director Wayne Guarino congratulated each of the students and their families.

Ian Kaiser, pictured with Baseball coach Jason DeVirgilio, will play for Binghamton University next year. Caitlin Olensky, pictured with Softball coach John Immediato, will play for the University of Nebraska. Karl Monaco, pictured with Wrestling coach John Krip, will compete for Columbia University.

Coaches Jason DeVirgilio for baseball, John Immediato for softball and John Krip for wrestling were also there to support their players as the students signed.

“Signing Day is an extremely rewarding experience,” Guarino said. “I love seeing the joy of our athletes and seeing the joy of our signee’s teammates who come out to support these athletes on their big day. This is a Mustang family here in Montville and I am so proud to be a part of it.”

Montville Township High School is one of seven schools in the Montville Township Public Schools district. MTHS is home to 1,110 students in grades nine through twelve. The MTHS class of 2023 has 278 members. Graduation will be held in the evening on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
