Dear Parents and Guardians:
We have received confirmation that an employee in our Cedar Hill School tested positive for COVID-19. Please note that we CANNOT provide any further identifying information about the employee as it would violate HIPAA laws. The Cedar Hill School Nurse has contacted those who may have had direct contact with this individual. It is also important to remember that people are most contagious at the height of illness or “actively sick” as explained by the CDC at the following link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html#spreads. There are currently 7 presumed positive cases of COVID-19 in Montville Township. It is important that we all continue to monitor ourselves and our families for any signs of illness. This communication is for notification purposes only and should not increase fear among the school community, only awareness.
Please continue to practice social distancing, stay away from others if you are not feeling well, and continue to practice good handwashing as we all work together to stop the spread of this disease.
As we complete our first week of distance learning, I want to thank our teachers and administrators for all of their efforts to make this process successful. It is a new realm for all of us and we will certainly grow in our abilities as we all become more familiar with the technology and resources available to support instruction. I also want to thank our parents and caregivers for their enthusiastic embrace of their new roles in facilitating education in your homes. I am very grateful for all that you are doing.
Currently all New Jersey school districts are required, under the Governor’s Executive Order, to be closed until further notice. I want to confirm that the Montville Township Public Schools will be closed at least through April 13th, the end of our Spring Break. When we will be able to open will depend on the Governor.
I will certainly provide any relevant updates to this information as needed. Please check your email frequently during this time.
René T. Rovtar, Ed.D.
Montville Township Superintendent of Schools
