NJ State Senator Joseph Pennacchio Celebrates READ ACROSS AMERICA at Woodmont Elementary in Montville, NJ

New Jersey State Senator Joseph Pennacchio (R – NJ 26th), participated in Woodmont Elementary School’s annual READ ACROSS AMERICA celebration on Monday, March 2, 2020.  He read to 50 third grade students.

Third Graders Enjoyed the NJ Legislator’s Stories of How a Bill Becomes a Law

New Jersey State Senator Joseph Pennacchio (R – NJ 26th), participated in Woodmont Elementary School’s annual READ ACROSS AMERICA celebration on Monday, March 2, 2020. The state Senator read to fifty third grade students at the Montville Township Public Schools’ elementary school in Pine Brook, NJ. While there, Pennacchio explained to Woodmont students how laws are made. He read two stories: DUCK FOR PRESIDENT, by Doreen Cronin, and Peter Barnes’ HOUSE MOUSE, SENATE MOUSE about the important job and challenging responsibilities the Squeaker of the House and the Senate Mouse-jority Leader must balance in making laws.

Pennacchio is a resident of Montville Township. His two children attended Woodmont Elementary School many years ago.

Pennacchio has served as a NJ 26th Legislative elected official for 19 years. He was a member of the NJ General Assembly from 2001 to 2008. He assumed office as a NJ State Senator in January 2008.

Throughout the month of March, Woodmont is celebrating MARCH LITERACY MONTH. The school’s celebration of reading kicked-off with Senator Pennacchio’s third grade visit on READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY.

Next THE AMAZING KRESKIN will headline a school-wide assembly at Woodmont on Friday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. The internationally acclaimed Mentalist and author will share his unique blend of stories, illusions and “thought reading.” He will read to students and talk about his work as a writer and entertainer.

A month-long reading celebration, Woodmont’s MARCH LITERACY MONTH will conclude on Friday, March 27, with a full day of guest readers sharing stories and explaining careers to all kindergarten through grade five Woodmont students.

Throughout the Montville Township Public Schools district, all five elementary schools in Montville, Pine Brook and Towaco, are celebrating READ ACROSS AMERICA with special reading celebrations, and STEAM-teamed activity days.
