40 District Teachers Honored for a Combined 770 Years of Service Superintendent Dr. Rene Rovtar congratulates 40 educators on a combined 770 Year s Of Service

Faculty, administration and staff were honored in a virtual announcement  - The 40 educators were recognized for 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service. Leonard Saunders, Valley View PE Teacher, had 35 years in the district, followed by Shari Arzi of Hilldale and Kevin Haugh of Cedar Hill, each with 30 years. Legendary Emcee George Shea Shares Motivational Message with Montville Township Public Schools Faculty and Staff A legendary emcee, George Shea welcomes the Montville faculty and staff back to school.

With Enthusiastic Encouragement, Shea Speaks as One with Faculty and Staff -  “We face a challenge like none other,” Shea begins. He speaks as though he is one with the faculty. “An enemy we don’t understand. And we have no tools. And we have no resources. And we have no weapons. But we are not alone. We stand shoulder to shoulder…. And we will charge the hill together, and, if one of us falls, we will pick them up and we will advance the cause, because we are the Montville Schools’ faculty and staff, led by Rene Rovtar.” 

Daily Health Screenings Are Required For Staff Members and All In-Person Students

All students and staff attending classes in-person must submit a Daily Health Screening Submission

Every day that a student or staff member attends classes or is in the district in-person, the student or staff member must submit a Daily Health Screening. -  Please stay home if you are having symptoms that are not associated with other chronic conditions that you typically experience such as allergies, migraines, etc. Please remember that all absences should still be reported through the usual process.

School Nurses Remind Parents & Guardians: A Daily Screening Submission Must Be Completed Before Sending Students to Schools

Student temperatures must be submitted daily

The Daily Screening Submission must be completed by a parent or guardian before your child(ren) leaves home. If a student arrives in school without it completed, a parent will be called and asked to complete it. If it remains incomplete, the child will be sent home. Repeated offenses will result in a mandatory meeting with the principal and/or the student being assigned to remote learning.

MTHS & Lazar Begin In-Person Instruction September 21. Remote Learning Begins September 8 for MTHS & Lazar School begins remotely for MTHS and Lazar students on Sept 8. On Sept 21 Lazar and MTHS begin in-person instruction.

Lazar and MTHS will open for for in-person instruction effective Monday, September 21, 2020. School will start in full remote mode for all middle and high school students on Tuesday, September 8th. The remote schedule will be in place for nine days with an early dismissal schedule. There is no change to the elementary in-person schedule which begins in-person AND Remote on September 8th.  Elementary students attend in-person on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for early dismissal days with a virtual schedule on Wednesdays.

A Dedicated Educator, Butchko Has Taken More than 100 Students to Holocaust-Related Sites in Europe to Enhance Their Understanding of Holocaust and Genocide Studies - On August 26th, the New Jersey Department of Education announced the 2020-2021 County Teachers of the Year.  The Governor's Educator of the Year Program promotes a positive school culture by acknowledging the hard work and dedication of outstanding teachers.  Individual schools are able to nominate exceptional educators.  A countywide panel reviews the application packets and selects the County Teacher of the Year.  A panel of educators then selects the New Jersey State Teacher of the Year based on written applications, video submission, and interviews with the top six finalists.  The State Teacher of the Year is usually announced at the October meeting of the State Board of Education.

New Teachers Begin Two-Day Orientation at Montville Township Public Schools. Twenty Teachers to Join Faculty for 2020-2021 School Year. twenty new teachers will join the faculty of MTPS. Seventeen attended the New Teacher Orientation on August 25, 2020 at MTHS.

New Teachers Attended Both In-Person and Virtual Training Sessions August 25 & 26 - New faculty attended a socially distanced, in-person, orientation on August 25. A mixture of in-person and virtual comprised the two-day "2020 New Teacher Orientation" training.The faculty are assigned throughout the district’s seven schools and will address a variety of curriculum areas. There will be three new elementary teachers, four special education teachers, three music teachers, one art teacher, one new social worker, one school nurse, one new MTHS English teacher, one district English Language Learner (or ESL) teacher, one World Language teacher, one Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and three long-term substitutes.
