TREP$, the exciting, after-school program being offered to our 4th and 5th grade students, is a hands-on program for young entrepreneurs. In it, our children will learn how to start and operate their own businesses! This extracurricular learning opportunity, sponsored by Cedar Hill HSA, begins with five, one-hour Workshops to teach entrepreneurship skills and ends with a TREP$ Marketplace, where each child will actually set up a table and sell products or services. It will take place over an 8-week period and should be a unique and wonderful experience for all the participants.
All 4th grade children view a short TREP$ DVD, which serves as our official kick-off for the program. TREP$ is meant to be a confidence and self-esteem builder for all children. We hope your child are inspired to participate by the DVD and the presentation.
The idea your child pursues can be as basic as a lemonade stand. We will help them with everything from
brainstorming business ideas to pricing and display. It should be a fun activity where your children are learning
through DOING, and having fun all the while. This committee requires volunteers; please look on the registration
form to help out!
The TREP$ Workshops will teach business skills through innovative techniques that focus on filling a need, knowing
your customer and product, being creative and inventive, and believing in yourself. The hands-on activities are led
by volunteers and cover topics such as Product Development, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and Handling
Money. They will be held at school on the following dates/times/locations:
Workshop I Wednesday, March 6th
Workshop II Wednesday, March 13th
Workshop III Wednesday, March 20th
Workshop IV Wednesday, March 27th
Workshop V Wednesday, April 10th
Workshop VI Wednesday, May 1st (after the Marketplace)
Parents will be responsible for picking their child up punctually at 4:30 at the school on these dates.
We will need every parent to volunteer at least once during TREP$ to make it a success.
The TREP$ Marketplace will be held Saturday April 27th from 4-6 PM at Cedar Hill.
There is a parent information meeting planned for Tuesday, January 29th at Cedar Hill at 7:00 PM.
In order for your child to get the most out of this program, we strongly suggest one parent attends.
There is a $20 registration fee for the program that covers a workbook, apron that the student can keep
and various supplies needed for the program.
On-line registration will open January 30th and run through February 13th.
