These books have been selected by librarians throughout New Jersey to be the best and most popular books published in 2007. As a Reading Incentive Program, I would like our students to read these books to be able to vote for their favorite title. Results of our voting will be sent to the New Jersey Library Association. This is a Children’s Choice Award.
Our students will be encouraged to read as many books as possible. A student in each grade will receive a Reading Achievement Award, for reading the most books in their grade. Every student who participates will receive a Garden State Participation Certificate.
To qualify as a voter and a participant:
· The permission slip below must be filled out by parent and returned to the media center during media class.
· Students must read a minimum of 2 books in each category.
· Complete Reading Log (title, author, brief summary and initialed by parent/guardian) for each title read. Encourage your child to enter this information immediately after reading each book.
· Submit Reading Log after every 3 books have been read. Additional logs are available on my website: www.montville.net/woodmont/media. Final week to submit reading logs will be the week of December 7th (during media class)
Students in Grades 1 will be reading Easy Reader and Easy Reader Series on the attached list. Students in Grade 2 will be reading Easy Reader, Easy Reader Series and Non-Fiction Titles on the attached lists. Students in Grade 3, 4 & 5 will be reading Fiction and Non-Fiction titles on the attached lists. Although we have these titles in our Woodmont Library, students will also be encouraged to use our public library to obtain these books. Students will have from September through December to complete their reading and will be voting during the week of December 14th.
