Code of Conduct

Students learn better in a secure, orderly and non-disruptive environment. This Code of Conduct is to help students and teachers create an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. At Woodmont School, clear and reasonable rules are fairly and consistently implemented. Also, respect for the uniqueness of individuals and for property is taught and encouraged.

I. Four General School Rules

A. Listen politely and follow directions.
B. Keep Hands feet and objects to yourself.
C. Be courteous and polite.

1. Respect the rights of others.
2. Respect property.
3. Use appropriate language.

D. Walk quietly on the right side of the hallways and stairs.

II. Expectations for Student Behavior in the Cafeteria or in outside eating areas

A. Students keep their areas clean.
B. Students stay in their seats unless they have permission to go to the bathroom or to their classroom
C. Students use proper table manners. Food is not thrown and hair is not combed at the table.
D. Hats are not worn indoors.
E. Students listen carefully to the adults in charge when announcements are made.
F. Students use quiet inside voices.

III. Expectations for Student Behavior on the Playground

A. Students share equipment and play fairly with their classmates.
B. Students who agree to follow the rules should be allowed to play with any group of children.
C. When the bell rings and the whistles blow, students line up quickly at the end of recess.
D. Students ask for assistance from the adults in charge when they have trouble with another student.
E. Students stay outdoors during recess, unless they have permission from the adults in charge to enter the building.
F. When dressed appropriately with snow pants, boots and gloves students may be invited to play outside when snow is on the ground. Snow and ice should not be thrown at any time.

IV. Expectations for Student Behavior on Field Trips

A. Talk quietly on the bus.
B. Use seat belts and stay seated.
C. Keep the bus clean and remember to take belongings
D. Use good audience manners at a performance.
E. Stay with the chaperone at all times.
F. Bring only water or juice boxes.
G. Do not bring CD Players, video games, or cell phones.

V. Expectations of Student Behavior at Arrival and Dismissal Times

A. Students should arrive between 8:05 and 8:15 a.m.
B. Students should report to the multipurpose room and sit and talk quietly with their classmates until their teachers pick them up.
C. At dismissal time students will go directly home unless they are staying with their teach or the after school program.
D. Students need to bring a note to their teacher if they are going home with someone different then their every day pick-up. Students may not go home on the bus with a friend if that is not their usual way of going home.

VI. Expectations of Student Behavior at Assemblies

A. Students sit quietly with their class and do not leave during the performance for a drink or to use the rest room.
B. Students are attentive to the presenter and do not distract their classmates.
