Process

Task 1:

Your Name

Your first job is to find out what your name means!

We read the book Chrysanthemum in class and learned that her name had 13 letters and was the name of a flower!  Now it's your turn to find out how many letters your name has and what your name means!  Go to the website:

www.babycenter.com/babyname/meanings.jhtml

Have mom or dad help you type you name where it says "enter a name to find its meaning".

You will learn the ORIGIN and MEANING of your name.

Next, count the letters of your name.

When you are done, download the NAME worksheet and write your answers.

Task 2:

 Fingerprints

Now, you will take a look at your fingerprints!  Every person in the world has a different fingerprint.  What kind do you have?

With the help of mom or dad, use an ink pad and white paper to make your fingerprints.  Now, go to the website:

http://www.fingerprints.tk/

Click on the section that says "all the different types".

Find the 9 types of fingerprints and print them out.

Now use a magnifying glass and   decide which type you have!

Circle your type and bring the paper to class.

We will make a bar graph to see what kind of prints the class has.

Task 3:

Your Favorite Music

Your favorite type of music is another way we can get to know you!  If you have a favorite song in mind, or if you need some help picking one, go to the website:

http://www.kididdles.com/mouseum/index.html

Have mom or dad help you search through the songs to find your favorite tune!

Listen to the song and print out the lyrics of your favorite song.

Bring the lyrics in and we will sing your favorite song in class.

Task 4:

Guess Who

Finally, you will investigate how you look and made a "Guess Who" project play in class.

First, download the "Guess Who" worksheet.

Next, use a mirror to look at yourself and color the face on the worksheet with your eye color, hair color, skin color and any other special features.  Have mom or dad use a ruler to measure how tall you are in feet and inches.

Finally, fill in the Guess Who paper and bring your final project to class.

We will post them on the bulletin board and try to match your name to your face!
