Happy New Year!

The children in the Preschool classes have been very busy learning about the season of winter and making snowmen. We will also be exploring a unit on Water and Ice, and will meet some new arctic friends, the penguins and polar bears. We will also be making bird feeders for our feathered friends that live outside. We are looking forward to an exciting month filled with heart-warming activities to melt the snow.  In the weeks ahead we will explore a unit on Winter Animals and discover how they adapt, hibernate or migrate throughout the coldest months.  The Preschool classes will be so busy, that we will not be hibernating this winter; we have too many fun-filled days ahead. Maybe you can see our shadows in the hall as we pass by your door.

“Run, run,

as fast as you can.

You can’t catch me.

I’m the gingerbread man.”

The sounds of this classic story can be heard within the preschool classes. The preschool children are listening to different versions of this famous story and comparing characters. Our preschool classroom will be filled with the smells of gingerbread men baking. The children will also be learning about some of the holiday traditions and customs that are shared by our preschool friends. We extend a warm holiday greeting to our Valley View friends and family.

November 2009

“Gobble, gobble, gobble” the Preschool class is beginning to prepare for Thanksgiving. We will be having a traditional Thanksgiving celebration that will include some very special people, The Pilgrims and our friends, the Native Americans. The children will also be involved in craft activities, songs and stories to help us celebrate this holiday. We wish our Valley View families and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving.

October 2009

The leaves are beginning to fall and the air is crisp. The preschool welcomes the coming of Autumn. The children have been gathering leaves and acorns. We are also very excited about our upcoming pumpkin picking trip to Wrightman’s Farm in Morristown. The children have been listening to stories and songs to prepare for the season and their trip. We are also anticipating the arrival of Halloween. Witches, Bats, and Ghosts…Oh My !

September 2009

Welcome to the Preschool program at Valley View School! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. It’s hard to believe how quickly the summer seems to have drifted away. We extend a warn welcome to all the new parents and children that will be in the preschool this year. The preschool children are very excited about meeting new friends and seeing some familiar faces. The children will start the school year by exploring units on “Learning about Me” and “Apples”. We look forward to a wonderful year in the preschool. Together we can make great strides in our partnership between home and school.
