    Teacher of the Year Nominations

During the month of November, Lazar will begin the process of selecting a Teacher of the Year as well as Governor’s Educator of the Year. The Governor's Educator of the Year award is new this year and also includes, but is not limited to, such positions as school counselors, school nurses, student assistance counselors, school therapists, and child study team members.

Each year this process begins with soliciting nominations from the faculty, parents and community. We encourage parents to nominate a faculty member worthy of such praise. Feel free to make a nomination by emailing a name to
teachyr@yahoo.com. Please provide a detailed rational for any candidate being nominated. Teachers who have received this award within the past 5 years are not eligible. Those teachers are Nancy Bostwick, Kathy Ernst, Marisa Wos, Kathy Zajac and Suzanne Metz. The committee will accept all submissions through November 24, 2014.

Thank you in advance for getting involved and recognizing our faculty.

    School Climate
The Robert R Lazar Middle School Guidance department set a goal to increase awareness of the school climate from the students’ perspective. School climate is essentially the quality and nature of school life based on a wide array of variables (Cohen, McCabe, Michelli & Pickeral, 2009). Several programs, activities, events, and aspects of the role of the guidance counselors are currently in place to foster a positive school climate. A deeper understanding of how these factors positively influence school climate needed to be analyzed. Best practices research indicates the most efficient way to investigate school climate and determine the efficacy of existing systems is through the utilization of objective measurement tools such as a survey.

For a summary of the survey analysis please see the guidance website.
