It's not too late to be a part of the fun! MTHS Inaugural Color Run at 300+ and counting!

Walk/Run event exceeds early expectations and blazes trail for healthy-living awareness and community-wide participation

The place to be this Saturday, April 1, 2017 is at the exciting Montville Township High School Color Run. Over 300 people have already signed up for the fun, healthy-living, family-friendly event. A 5K run will begin at 10:00 a.m. Walkers will embark on the 1-mile course at 10:30. Everyone is welcome to participate. Registration ends on Friday, March 31. Registration is on-line at Montville.net. Click on The Color Run flyer for more info and to register.

“This is an event for families or individuals,” said Dana Bertoli. “Anyone from anywhere can participate because there is something for everyone at the MTHS Class of 2017 Color Run.

Bertoli, an MTHS Mathematics Teacher, is also the Varsity Girls Soccer Coach and a Senior Class Advisor.

In addition to a 5K Run and 1-mile Walk, there will also be a DJ and a spring-like spectacle called a Color Explosion.

“This event will be fun and it supports a great cause: our 2017 graduates. It will be a healthy, active and colorful day,” Bertoli explained.

Organized by student, teacher and administration volunteers, the Class of 2017 Color Run idea was the result of a brainstorming session between the senior class officers and Principal Douglas Sanford. The goal for the event was to involve at least 200 people from the school, the district and the community at large. By March 30, the original goal had been far surpassed and over 320 had registered. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to fund the 2017 MTHS Senior Prom.

“The enthusiasm for The Color Run has been tremendous,” Bertoli added. “This event feels like the beginning of a new MTHS tradition. We are prepared to accommodate hundreds more, so no one has to miss this exciting opportunity. I hope everyone registers on-line by March 31 and comes out to enjoy the fun.”

Montville Township High Schools’ first ever Color Run is attracting a lot of excitement. Founded in 2011, the mission of The Color Run Organization is “to bring people together and make the world a happier, healthier place. “.

“This is an exciting new program for MTHS,” Principal Sanford said. “The Color Run will help create awareness for healthy living and raise funds for an important cause. Already there are over 300 people signed up to participate. Wouldn’t it be great if the entire community came out to raise awareness for healthy living?”

“This is an active event but you can do it at your own pace,” said Bertoli. “There is no time limit. You can run, jog or walk. It is a fun, colorful, family-friendly event.”

To participate in the first Annual MTHS Color Run, people must register on-line by the end of the day on Friday, March 31. Fundraising levels range from $25 to $35. To learn more or to register go to: Montville.net and click on The Color Run image.
