Wellness Committee

The Lazar Wellness Committee is comprised of a group of concerned and determined stakeholders including faculty members, student representatives, PTC members and food service employees.  Together a variety of topics are discussed on a monthly basis.  Concerns are cited and solutions are formulated. 

The Wellness Committee plan invokes change by:

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting current nutrition and wellness trends
  • Introducing healthier alternatives and eliminating unhealthy selections in our cafeteria
  • Educating students through our Health Education classes to reinforce new cafeteria trends and selections
  • Educate students about wellness and Fitness through our new "Fit for Life" curriculum offered to grade 7 and 8 student during the 2007-2008 school year
  • Working with staff, students and families to bring about whole school reform
