Crisis Intervention Procedures and Make-a Plan
Be ready. Make a plan. Logo
Students will work with their advisory group and their family to Make-a-Plan in accordance with         procedures set forth by www.ready.gov and the Department of Homeland Security.  Through a grant  from Morris County Crime Stoppers all Lazar students will be given a small plastic wallet during the 2006-2007 school year. As a part of the Make-a-Plan project students will carry these wallets containing pertinent information helpful in times of crisis.  More information will be sent home with students as this project unfolds.

Psychological First Aid
The New Jersey Star Ledger recently reported that although ninety-six percent of all school districts in the state of New Jersey have developed emergency guidelines or crisis plans, few schools actually exercise or update them.  As a part of Lazar’s continued effort to emphasize safety, faculty and staff were introduced to upcoming strategies during a whole school in-service which incorporated new procedures into our emergency and crisis management plan.  Faculty and staff learned the concepts of  administering simple “Psychological First Aid” to persons in need through the incorporation of some basic knowledge and tools enabling a "Connect-Protect-Direct" approach.
