dedication ceremony in June: Lazar’s staff has been busy this summer, creating, updating and fine-tuning its award winning character education advisory curriculum in order to meet the ever-changing needs and trends of our school community. In addition to 6th & 7th grade activities that encourage and promote our anti-bullying and teasing campaign, teambuilding, honesty, respect, and responsibility, our new curriculum will also address: · Resiliency · Decision making · How to help a friend · Drug prevention · Cyber bullying · No name calling/“Don’t label me” · Living Lessons Our 8th grade Service Learning component will continue as student-centered projects, activities, and reflections to help those in need. Past projects have included fund-raising for The Freedom Alliance, St. Jude’s Hospital; collecting supplies for the Montville Animal Shelter; crocheting blankets for abandoned babies (Project Linus); food drive for the Food Pantry; 2 Troop Drives (supplies for soldiers in war torn areas); Project Iraqi Children Toy Drive; and $52,000 to Kids Helping Kids (Katrina Drive) to name a few.
We look forward to an exciting year!
