Chinese New Year Celebration

Chinese New Year is a very special holiday for the Hilldale School community.  This year, as they have in the past, our talented students and their families shared their holiday with the rest of the school by organizing and presenting an informative and exciting assembly.  Students and family members played cultural music, performed traditional dances, demonstrated popular games, and explained several traditions practiced during this fifteen day celebration.   Thank you so much to all who put forth so much time and energy to share and educate the Hilldale community.

Celebrating Earth Day at Hilldale School

The Hilldale Community kicked off Earth Day with a variety of activities that lasted the whole day.  Every single student at Hilldale School pitched in during the day to help make our Earth a better place to live today, tomorrow, and in the future. Many of the actvities that the students participated in all had the common theme that, "Every Day is Earth Day!"

Halloween

Ms. D. was Hilldale's superhero! October 31 was a spooktacular event at Hilldale School. Teachers and students alike were dressed in their best costumes ready to scare the next unsuspecting victim. Students paraded around the playground to show off their costumes for their friends and family. Afterwards, everyone rushed inside for goodies, treats, crafts and games at the spectacular parties, organized by the always wonderful Hilldale parents.

Read Across America

All grades at Hilldale School joined together to participate in the Nationwide program “Read Across America” honoring the great Dr. Seuss.  Celebrity readers included Montiville's mayor Deb Neilson and the interim director of curriculum, Bonnie Fullam.  The day was a huge success!

Special Friends' Day

Hilldale welcomes our special friends.
During Special Friends' Day our students invite someone who is special to them to come in and share their school day. They participate in a variety of activities together throughout the morning.  This special event is a huge success for everyone who is involved! Grandparents are Special Friends too!

“TURF THE VALLEY” Campaign

On Wednesday, December 3, 2008, members of Kiwanis visited Hilldale and treated the school community to sundaes for the most money collected during the Fun Run to help Turf the Valley at Montville Township High School.

Connor Meytrott, a third grader at Hilldale, collected close to $2,600.00 from sponsors and his efforts enabled us to receive the sundaes.  Everyone was happily surprised to receive the treats.

In addition, Hilldale received a “Great Job” plaque for the front hall.  Students wrote thank you letters, which were mailed to Mrs. Linda Gannon, a Kiwanian who helped serve the ice cream.  She will share the student letters at the next Kiwanis meeting.

MOVE-Up Day 2009

Students enjoyed meeting their teachers for the upcoming school year, and the teachers had fun greeting the young learners who will fill their classroom seats come September.
