Notice from John Wozniak, Health Officer
Please be aware that the Montville Township Health Department has received a positive lab report on a raccoon submitted from a property on Glenwood Dr. in Lake Valhalla. This animal was rabid and the dog which came in contact with it needed to receive a rabies booster shot and is currently in a quarantine.
This notice is to remind you that rabies is present in the Montville area and you should be leery of any wildlife that may be acting suspiciously. It is also important to ensure that all pets are properly vaccinated against rabies. If the dog associated with this raccoon were not to have its shots, the recommendation would have been to euthanize it .
Thank you for your attention in this matter. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at the health department.
